![]() The only benefit of that would be to attract new customers and try to hold them for future products to be sold above cost and to make a profit. That is, in fact, the primary reason for occasional sales.an increase, not decrease, in income. As an addendum: so long as the sales price is not below the cost of the product itself, in which case it'd be subsidized, and not really be a net win/income. In other words, a sale could, feasibly, lead to higher income. Sales do not necessarily mean lower profits because you move more product when the price is lower, particularly when it's not a permanent price reduction. I'd say you don't fully understand economics. It is his income, means he would have less income if the sales discount would be higher ( very basic i know ), how would you feel when i now say you should have less income ? When you see it that way, he is segmenting players with low income. Originally posted by BLAME! jaggied, by your logic of sales, what ever is your income, work or social state, should give you less. Using the money I do have wisely so I don't add mental health issues due to sheer boredon to my woes seems intelligent, wouldn't you say? Even pursuing something more worthwhile, like say, higher learning, is f'ing expensive. In other words, I have way more free time than I have the funds to fill it. ![]() Like I already said, it's worth it at full price.Įdit: For the record, I'm on disability with extremely limited mobility, but I CAN play video games just fine. This game of course is an exception to all that, being that it doesn't fall under the auspices of the mega-publishers. I counter your point by saying that anyone who pays full price for a game with how often sales occur and how quickly after release (most of) them get discounted is just a knee-jerk reaction spender and not smart with their money. The video game industry currently makes more money than the Film industry. This is something most adults understand.so I'm going to have to assume you either still live off your parents, or you're wealthy. It's called managing one's finances, you do that with discretionary spending not just essentials, if you aren't "wealthy enough not to need to worry about it". It's a matter of how far you can stretch what you did save up at that point. Obviously I can save up "a dollar or two" per month.more than that actually. Spoken like someone who has never really had tight finances. I'm not saying it to be mean or exclude people with limited economies, it's just that the excuse is either false (and as such is used only as a justification for not giving the product's worth) or true (in which case, as put above, you absolutely shouldn't buy the game with or without discount). Originally posted by Jigain:While I don't want to tell anyone how to spend their money, if your economy is so tight that you literally cannot save up even a dollar or two per month, you probably shouldn't spend money on luxury goods like RimWorld to begin with. So I throw no shade toward them for that stance regarding sales. It's all good though, the game already comes in at a significantly lower price than most "big studio" games and I've found it to be well worth it, and then some. ![]() ![]() For them It has nothing to do with my level of "commitment" or "interest", or "impulse buys" and everything to do with financial situation. He is completely discounting a segment of players who are more than interested, but who have very limited discretionary spending (like me). However, it’s also cool to participate in sales, so for the forseeable future RimWorld will participate in sales at small discounts of ~10%. This general philosophy remains in place. ![]() We want to attract players who are interested enough for that price to make sense for them by improving and expanding the game over years and years of active development (as opposed to seeking discount impulse buys). Our goal has always been to make a game that’s worth its full price.
